On Friday 7th July the Squadron deploys to RNAS Yeovilton to support of their hugely popular annual air day.
It has been an incredibly busy 4-5 weeks for the Sqn with events at Weston Super Mare, Shuttleworth, (photo), Blackbushe and Medway. This period also saw an unplanned mid-week (outdoor) engine change on our Sharks aircraft which developed an engine fault shortly after performing at the Weston Festival. Thankfully the aircraft was secure behind the wire at Weston Super Mare's Helicopter Museum. and we must publically thank them for their hospitality during those few days.
The outstanding work done by our engineers ensures that we remain fully serviceable for Yeovilton which allows us to take 3 x Gazelles down to the Somerset levels for the Saturday show.
The aircraft are in superb condition - as has been commented upon by the many hundreds of visitors that we meet at the shows, some of whom have fond and nostalgic memories of the Gazelle.
Our volunteer ground and air crews work tirelessly to provide a fun, safe and educational experience for visitors, some just want a photograph, whilst others engage us in detailed conversation over the specifics of the aircraft.
We love it !
