Gavin, military serial ZB647, spent all of his 32 year service with the Royal Navy and for the majority of this time it was a training aircraft with 705 Squadron at RNAS Culdrose.

In 1994 Gavin represented the UK at the World Helicopter Championships in Moscow, and between 1995 and 1997, he was used by Flag Officer Naval Aviation (FONA). For a short period, Gavin was based at RNAY Fleetlands in Hampshire, with the accompanying tailcode "FL".

Gavin is currently being rebuilt to flying condition with the UK civil aircraft registration of G-CBSF. Once he has been built, he will be finished in the red and white colours of Flag Officer Naval Aviation based at RNAS Yeovilton, wearing the tailcode "VL".
